It is best if only those being photographed are present. The studio will be very warm for baby's comfort, and the session can be lengthy. I typically begin the session with family images so that siblings will then be free to go. This is a great opportunity to reward the older child for doing such a great job during their portion of the shoot! 

Who may come to the session?

Newborn sessions last from 2-4 hours. This allows time for extra feedings, changes, and all those snuggles to get baby settled. Baby is boss and will run the session!  

How long will the session last?

I will be creating timeless images for your home, so clothing should reflect that. Simple, neutral colors and soft tones photograph beautifully and keep focus on your family. Sweaters, flowy dresses, and lace are perfect for Moms and girls. For men and boys, cotton henleys, or shirts without collars work well, as collars tend to get in the way. 

What should i wear?

All props, wraps, blankets, and outfits are provided for your baby's session. Please bring plenty for baby to eat, as they tend to eat more during a session. I strongly advise a pacifier- even if only for use during the session, as some babies have difficulty with self soothing, and this can make a difference in the number of images I am able to get for you. It's also a good idea to bring a change of clothes, as accidents are quite common!

What if my baby is older?

If you have missed my newborn window, I can still get beautiful images of your baby! Please be advised, older babies are much more alert and will require more of a lifestyle type session involving parents in the posing to keep baby relaxed and happy. 

I prefer babies that are between 11 - 28 days old. This allows for some recovery time and a bit of a routine, yet baby is still squishy enough to get into those adorable curled up poses! 

How old should my baby be at the session?

As soon as possible! We will schedule your session for your due date, then go from there. No worries! My goal is to provide clients with the best service and experience, just as they deserve. My number of newborn sessions are limited each month. Book early to ensure availability.
